Why your horses and boarders are always hungry, how much grain to give, and how hay works.
If your horses or boarders are always hungry, feed grain until the condition bar reaches the middle of the green section, not just the bottom of it. Boarders are ridden by their owners and burn more energy. Check the Horses book in your office: a negative number in the body condition (scale) column means the horse will lose weight overnight.
Feed to the middle of the green#
Players report that topping a horse up only to the bottom of the green section is not enough; it will be hungry the next day. Feeding until the arrow reaches the middle of the condition bar prevents this.
Why boarders get hungrier#
Boarded horses are ridden by their owners, so they exercise and get hungry. Players feed boarders to the middle of the green to anticipate this. Neglected boarders can cost you money and prestige.
Use the Horses book#
The Horses book in your office lists every horse on your property. Look at the scale icon (body condition) column: a negative number means the horse will lose weight on the next day unless you feed more grain.
Hay and fields#
In the demo, players reported that horses eat the hay when you close the fields at night, then reopen them in the morning. Others still needed grain, so do not rely on hay alone.
Treats#
Treats add a little weight and a small confidence boost.
