Platforms, Steam Deck & languages
Which systems run Horses of Hoofprint Bay, its Steam Deck rating, supported languages, and console plans.
Horses of Hoofprint Bay is available on Steam for Windows and Linux. Steam rates it Playable on Steam Deck, with notes about controller and keyboard behavior. There is no Mac, mobile, or console version; the developers say they are focusing on PC first.
Supported platforms#
The Steam store lists Windows and Linux (SteamOS) support. Mac is not listed. The minimum Windows requirement on the store is Windows 10 version 21H1 (build 19043) or newer.
Steam Deck rating#
Steam’s compatibility review rates the game Playable on Steam Deck. Valve’s notes say the default controller configuration is not fully functional, some controller glyphs do not match the Deck, and text input does not automatically open the on-screen keyboard. The interface text is rated legible, and the default configuration performant.
Tips from Steam Deck players#
Players on the Steam forum share these setup tips: set the compatibility tool to Proton Experimental, choose the keyboard (WASD) + mouse control preset, and use the touchscreen for menus. One player maps Esc to the B button to leave buildings quickly; another rides with the right arrow to speed up, the left arrow to slow down, and A to jump. Lessons may need extra adjustment. If tack cannot be changed on Deck, drag the item instead of tapping it, and try Proton Experimental. These are community tips from the demo period and early release, not official instructions.
Controller support#
Steam does not list controller support for the game, and Valve’s Deck review notes that the default controller configuration is not fully functional. The developer said in February 2026 that Steam Deck compatibility was planned. Until full controller support is confirmed, expect to remap keys or use the touchscreen.
Mac players, CrossOver, and GeForce Now#
There is no native Mac version. Players report that CrossOver and the game’s Unity engine do not get along well, so it is not a reliable workaround. The game is not known to be on GeForce Now; one player suggests a native Mac version is more likely than cloud support.
Mac, mobile, and consoles#
The official FAQ says the team focuses on PC first, because multi-platform development is not feasible for them at the time. They would love to bring the game to other platforms later, but have made no promise or date.
Languages#
The Steam store lists 24 interface languages: English, German, French, Dutch, Russian, Italian, Spanish (Spain), Spanish (Latin America), Czech, Finnish, Hungarian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Turkish, Ukrainian, Slovak, Danish, Korean, Romanian, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Swedish.
What still needs verification
