What prestige unlocks in Horses of Hoofprint Bay (trails, shop upgrades, boarders), how to gain it, and what makes you lose it.
Prestige is your yard’s reputation. According to the community-maintained TMQ Horse Game Database, prestige unlocks the Advanced Forest trails at 10%, the Beach trails at 30%, the Mountain trails at 40%, and shop upgrades along the way. You gain prestige from quests, building upgrades, winning competitions, and successful boarder stays, and lose it by competing with a dirty horse or without proper clothing, losing competitions, failed boarder stays, and welfare problems.
What prestige unlocks#
The community wiki lists these unlocks: at 10% the Advanced Forest trails become available to buy (1,000); at 30% the Beach trails (1,300); at 40% the Mountain trails (1,300); at 60% the second tack shop upgrade with custom-coloured tack. The first tack upgrade (for example ear bonnets) and the clothing upgrades come in between, but even the wiki is unsure of their exact percentages. The Cross Country Forest trail is unlocked differently, by winning the novice cross-country competition.
How to gain prestige#
Prestige rises with completed quests, building upgrades, the money you have available, your best horse’s stats and competition level, competition wins, and successful boarder stays. The developer FAQ also points to a difficulty setting that increases prestige gain.
How to lose prestige#
You lose prestige by competing with a dirty horse or without proper clothing (no helmet, shirt, trousers, or shoes), by losing or not finishing competitions, by unsuccessful boarder stays such as a boarder mare getting pregnant, and through welfare problems like serious illness or horses being taken away.
Why prestige matters for income#
According to the community wiki, prestige decides how many boarders are offered each day and how many cover requests your stallions get, and horses offered by the breeder have higher potential when your prestige is higher.
Shop not updating?#
A player reports that in a second save the shop did not add new items despite more than 25% prestige. No answer has been posted yet. Compare your prestige with the upgrade levels above, and send a bug report with F8 if new items never appear.
Prestige achievements#
Prestigious is unlocked at 50% prestige (10.0% of players have it) and Highly Prestigious at 99% (0.2%).

Exact percentages for the first tack and clothing upgrades are uncertain even in the community wiki, and values may change with patches.
