When foals and yearlings grow up, what happens without stable space, and how pregnancy affects the mare.
Players report that a foal stays with its mother in the stable for 4 days, then moves to the yearling paddock, and becomes a young adult around day 12. If a yearling grows up while your stable is full, it is sent away; you can find it again at the sale barn in town. The yearling paddock holds 6 yearlings, or 13 after its upgrade, according to the community wiki.
How long foals take to grow#
Horse ages are counted in in-game days. Players report that a foal spends its first 4 days with its mother in the stable, then lives in the yearling paddock until about day 12, when it becomes a young adult. A demo player tracked a foal from birth on day 13 to adulthood on day 25, which matches. You can care for and train yearlings while they are in the paddock.
Make room before a yearling grows up#
When a yearling ages up in the yearling paddock and there is no free space in the stable, it is sent away. Players report that you can get it back from the sale barn in town once you have made room.
Pregnancy and nursing cost the mare training#
Mares do not gain stats during late pregnancy and the nursing phase. By the time the foal is a yearling, the mare has to train again to recover lost stat points, according to players.
Breeding options#
Besides covering a mare, players describe collecting semen at the breeding station and using it fresh or freezing it.
Moving a yearling into the paddock#
If a foal became a yearling before you built the yearling paddock, it may stay in the stable, and dragging it to the paddock may not work. A player solved this by selecting the yearling, opening Manage, and moving it through the stable groups. The paddock holds 6 yearlings at level 1 and 13 at level 2.
