Why mares get pregnant without a breeding station, how to geld a stallion, and how to protect boarders.
In Horses of Hoofprint Bay, a stallion kept with mares will cover them naturally, even without a breeding station, and that includes boarders. To prevent it, geld the stallion by calling the vet (players report it costs 50 coins), or keep stallions in a separate stable group and field.
Why your mare is suddenly pregnant#
If you buy a stallion and keep him in the same group as your mare, she can get pregnant overnight without any action from you. Players confirm this happens before you build the breeding station.
Boarders can get pregnant too#
Several players lost money this way: when a boarded mare got pregnant, the owner was upset, they paid a penalty of around 500, lost prestige, and the owner collected the horse early. Keep stallions away from boarders.
How to geld a stallion#
In the horse’s medical tab, call the vet. Players report that the vet bill includes an option to geld (neuter) the stallion for 50 coins. A community helper says gelding has no stat effects; it only lets you keep him with mares without unwanted pregnancies or fights.
Separating horses instead#
Upgrade your stable to get more than one stable group, then move horses between groups through the horse’s Move or Manage options. You can also drag a horse to a different field. One player keeps three groups: mares, geldings, and stallions. Stallions kept together can fight.
