Riding lesson corrections

How to pass riding lessons: what to watch on the rider, how many corrections to give, and how to avoid “not enough corrections”.

THE QUICK ANSWER

To pass riding lessons, focus on a few reference points: the rider’s toes should be at the front edge of the girth, the hands about a fist above the mane, and the upper body upright, not leaning. Give plenty of corrections: players do at least 4–5 per round, because a wrong correction is better than too few.

Learn the correct position first#

Before the lesson starts, study the correct posture shown by the game. Compare relative positions rather than trying to spot small movements: feet parallel to the ground, back at a right angle to the ground, hands just above where the mane flies.

Check the legs first#

Players find the legs the easiest: the rider’s toes should be at the front end of the girth. If they are in front of it or behind it, correct it.

Correct often#

The “not enough corrections given” message is common. Players recommend giving as many corrections as possible, at least 4–5 per round, and say it is better to correct and be wrong than to say nothing.

Make the controls easier#

Rebind the correction keys in the settings to avoid misclicks. Some players find the lessons hard when the horse moves fast; you can also rely on staff to give lessons later.

Lessons with staff#

Riding instructor Julia gives one lesson per assigned slot, so assign a horse to every slot to use all her lessons. Lessons cost the school horse some strength and endurance over time.

What still needs verification
