Save problems & disabled achievements
What to do when a save is corrupted, achievements are disabled because the save “was edited”, or a save disappears.
If Horses of Hoofprint Bay says your save “was edited outside the game” and disables achievements, you have not necessarily done anything wrong: players report it after crashes and power cuts. There is no official fix on the Steam forum yet. Report it with F8 or on the official Discord, and back up your save folder before trying anything else.
“This save was edited outside the game”#
Several players report that achievements became disabled after a crash or power outage, with a message that the save was edited, even though they never touched the files. Players have filed bug reports on the official Discord. One player suggests removing the most recent save as a temporary measure; back up first, because this loses progress.
Achievements not unlocking at all#
A different issue: some players who started on launch day only received the first achievement. One player reports achievements began working after quitting and restarting the game. The game has 47 Steam achievements in total.
Corrupted saves after crashes#
Players report saves that no longer load after repeated crashes. Deleting earlier days did not help one player. Send a bug report with F8 so the developers can investigate the file.
Saves missing after playing the demo again#
Players who loaded old demo saves after starting the full game report that their new full-game save stopped appearing in the menu, even though the file is still in the game folder. There is no confirmed way to re-import it yet. Avoid deleting saves from inside the demo once you play the full game, and keep a copy of your save folder.
Demo saves#
According to the developer FAQ, October demo saves carry over to the full game and February demo saves do not.

An official fix for disabled achievements and for missing saves has not been posted yet. All workarounds above are player reports.
